Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a group of progressive neurological disorders that damages motor neurons (neurons that control involuntary action in the body). As the disease advances, these nerve cells gradually deteriorate, leading to muscle stiffness, weakness, and eventual muscle wasting. MND leads to compromised ability to perform daily life activities such as walking, running, speaking, breathing or swallowing. In the early stages, MND usually does not affect sensory functions, bladder control, or bowel function. Although there is currently no cure for MND, early diagnosis and supportive treatment can help manage symptoms and improve the quality of life of the patient. Â
